Hey Blockheads! Hump day is upon us once again, which means so is the next exciting block release from MBH5! Today we welcome Corey Yoder of Coriander Quilts back to the mix with her block design, “Border Block.” Created using a traditional star pattern combined with a striped border effect, the block is appropriately named and true to form. Adding a striped border to a traditional star block not only looks cool, but it also opens up a wide variety of possibilities when it comes to implementing a new accent or additional color to your block design. When piecing my block, I used lighter, contrasting colors behind the dark portion of the star which gave it more dimension and depth, and added a little bit of extra “pop” to the design. What do you think? I think I like it.

It feels good to be on the final stretch of yet another quilt-along that we’ve been working on for what seems like forever! I don’t know about you, but I am really looking forward to getting this thing put together so I can finally see it in all its glory. Only five short weeks, and it’s over! When I say it out loud, five weeks seems like a while but you and I both know it’ll fly by before we know it. Will you be finishing on time or do you have some catching up to do? Either way, it’s always exciting to be able to move on to the next project after you’ve been working on something for so long.
