Hey stitchers! Welcome back to my blog. I hope you had a chance to catch Stitch with Lisa Bongean yesterday LIVE on YouTube. Jess and I were super excited to welcome Corey Yoder as our special guest via Zoom! For those of you not familiar with Corey, she is a mom of two who is also an accomplished fashion designer with an original focus on appliquéd children’s clothing. As time progressed she eventually also evolved into quilt design and is now equally following the footsteps of both her Mom and Dad’s side of the family – each of which includes many quilt makers. Corey is well known for her pattern shop, Coriander Quilts where she shows off her modern twist on traditional quilt block designs. In addition, not only is she is a regular contributor to quilt magazines and books, she is a fabric designer for Moda and also the author of her own book, Playful Petals.” Busy, busy!

During our LIVE show, we spent some time talking about Corey’s most recent Moda fabric line, Beautiful Day,” and touched on a few of her past lines as well. Beautiful Dayis a colorful rose filled line of fabric that features reds, pinks, greens, and grays. It brings a flower garden into your home with a wide selection of florals, grids, scattered dots, a gingham check, and a stripe pattern to choose from.

If you missed our virtual tour of this stunning line, no worries! Let’s take another look at some of Corey’s gorgeous designs! This line is so pretty and inspiring, it’s hard not to want to create something fabulous out of it! First up, I want to show you how Beautiful Day inspired a recent project of mine. I came up with a darling little “teaser quilt” called, Tulip Twirl – a fresh new Primitive Gatherings design based on the spring time prints and color palette of  Beautiful Day! Measuring at 18″ x 18″, this darling little mat fits not only your dining room table, but your budget as well!

We already have kits for Tulip Twirlall set up and ready to go for your spring decorating needs! Know someone with a birthday coming up? This cute little mini also makes a great gift! Time-wise it doesn’t require a lot, nor will it break your bank. I wanted to offer something that wasn’t as large as all the other projects we’ve been showing for those of you on a budget – whether it be a time budget or pocket book. Speaking of budget, I almost forgot to tell you! To celebrate my fellow Moda sister’s beautiful new fabric line, now through Sunday April 3rd, 2022 you can take 15% OFF of any Corey Yoder pre-cut fabric that we have in stock (*offer valid on pre-cuts only). WOW right!? But wait, I’m not done yet. As an added bonus, now through Sunday April 3rd, 2022 as a way to say thank you for ordering Corey Yoder products you’ll receive a FREE Coery Yoder “Beautifully Charming” pattern with any purchase of Corey’s patterns or fabric!

I am totally in love with this “charming” charm pack friendly quilt pattern for “Beautifully Charming.” Corey couldn’t decide whether she liked the red or the gray background better so naturally, she made a version in both!Corey is much better than I am at creating pre-cut friendly patterns, and this genius design is no exception. She says she loves to design charm pack quilts that, “really give you bang for your buck” and allow you to really utilize your fabrics. Which color scheme do you like the best? Let me know in the comment section! And remember, if you love “Beautifully Charming” as much as I do, be sure to place and order now through Sunday April 3rd, 2022 to receive the FREE Coery Yoder “Beautifully Charming” pattern with any purchase of Corey’s patterns or fabric!!!

Next up out of the Beautiful Day collection we have Blossomville. LOL! I just love that name! This quilt needs a fat eighth bundle (30 fat eighths) to complete. Again, this pattern was designed around the Beautiful Daycollection, but you could use any fabric you like! Corey says, “it’s a real handy way to use up some fabrics.” I’m sure we all have plenty of fabrics that are patiently waiting to become part of our next big project!

I absolutely love the way the green pops up against the reds, pinks, grays, and light background on this quilt. The points at the end of each green shape remind me of thorns carefully guarding a bush full of beautiful roses in full bloom. What do you see in this engaging design? Finished size on this one is 72″ x 84″.

Do you like implementing larger prints into your quilting? Rosebud Waltz is a layer cake quilt that does an excellent job of showing off larger scale prints on fabric. It certainly does the Beautiful Daycollection justice by showcasing each unique print within the large square “windows” throughout the quilt.

This design was originally intended for a book Corey is working on that’s due to come out in May. It ended up not really fitting with what the book needed it to be, so rather than letting her creativity go to waste, she switched gears and decided to use it within her Beautiful Dayline. This seems quite serendipitous to me – I think it worked out perfectly! This quilt is a nice finished size of 70″ x 82″.

For those of you who like working with really large blocks, consider giving Picket Fence Cottages a try. This quilt only has 12 blocks but it does involve a lot of piecing. Corey described it as, “a fun one with – not hard piecing – but A LOT of piecing.”

Have you ever worked with running yardage? Quilting panels of running yardage is an interesting way of achieving a very intricate appliquéd look on your quilt top out of just one piece of fabric. Designs are printed directly onto the fabric and then later traced with stitching. It really does look amazing up close!

On the bolt, this fabric is 60″ wide, which means you can buy two yards of it and be able to achieve a 60″ x 72″ throw-size quilt out of it. Pretty cool! The camera really doesn’t give it justice when it comes to how marvelous this looks up close once quilting is completed. Just awesome!

One of the girls in the shop used Beautiful Day to create an Atkinson Designs pattern we carry here in the shop. Rocky Mountain Runner is a super simple and quick table runner suitable for any level of quilter – and it just so happens to work perfectly with Beautiful Day. This jelly roll friendly runner needs (10) 2 1/2″ fabric strips or 7 fat eighths to complete. Finished this runner is 15″ x 46″.

Are you loving the Beautiful Day line yet?! If you need to get your hands on some of this delicious fabric we’ve got you covered! Hit the link below for pre-cuts of Beautiful Day! We currently have charm packs, jelly rolls, layer cakes, fat eighth bundles, fat quarter bundles, and fabric on the bolt available! And as I mentioned above, to celebrate my fellow Moda sister’s beautiful new fabric line, now through Sunday April 3rd, 2022 you can take 15% OFF of any Corey Yoder pre-cut fabric that we have in stock (*offer valid on pre-cuts only). WOW right!? But I’m not done yet! As I mentioned above, to sweeten the pot I’m also throwing in a FREE Coery Yoder pattern with any purchase of Corey’s patterns or fabric. Pretty good deal if I do say so myself! If you love Corey’s style, don’t wait to stock up! Inventory won’t last long.

If you like Corey’s designs we have several of her previously released patterns up for grabs on our website. Does your project need an extra floral touch? We have a couple things from Corey’s most previous line, Cozy Up that might just be the ticket. This line features beautiful flowers paired with colors like forest green, canary yellow, orange, and stone blue. We still have some of this fabric left as well as a couple of our Cozy Up Kits. This adorable quilt kit features a super cute old-time truck, pumpkins, and leaves that are all pieced with no appliqué. This quilt is perfect for the advanced beginner and will include fabric for the top and binding, along with the quilt pattern. Box size is 11.5″ x 10″ x 3″. Finished quilt size is 72″ x 80″.

Because we’re trying to make room for new inventory, we’d like to see these kits and fabrics find great homes! In addition to 15% OFF of any Corey Yoder pre-cut fabric that we have in stock, now through Sunday April 3rd, 2022 I will take an extra 5% off for a total of 20% OFF your purchase of any pre-cut fabric or quilt kit from Corey’s Cozy Up line (*offer valid on Cozy Up pre-cuts and quilt kits only)! We don’t have a lot of this fabric in stock so grab it while you can! Once it’s gone, it’s gone! PLUS as an additional BONUS, you’ll receive a FREE Corey Yoder pattern with any purchase of Corey’s patterns or fabric.

Dandelion Gravyis a pattern from one of Corey’s previous fabric lines called, “Canning Days.” This bright, jelly roll friendly pattern has a fun geometric design and is 70″ x 70″ when finished.

Do you have a honey bun laying around that you just don’t know what to do with? Persimmon was designed with a honey bun in mind. If you’re more of a scrappy fan, this quilt also makes the perfect scrap buster.

This quilt is a super quick and easy way to make short work of 1 1/2″ strips! Quick and scrappy strip piecing combine to create this dynamic quilt! Finished, Persimmon” measures 55″ x 66″.

Do you have a collection of charm packs just waiting for the right project? Sprinkling is just what you’re looking for! Sprinklingis a fun quilt that only needs two of those precious charm packs and a background fabric to complete the top!

With an abundance of white space, this pretty quilt has a fresh and unique look. It reminds me of tiny flurries of falling snow or the colorful sprinkles on a white frosted birthday cake (…great, now I want cake!). Sprinklingis 68″ x 85″ when finished – which is a pretty big quilt for just two charm packs! Nice work Corey.

Have you ever wanted your own Grandmother’s Flower Garden style Quilt, but thought the hand piecing would just be too much? Great news! Beholden 2 features simple piecing techniques, with no hand piecing or pesky templates required! These simple techniques makes owning at least what looks like a Grandmother’s Flower Garden Quilt a lot less work than originally thought! Plus you only need two layer cakes for this project. Once finished, Beholden 2measures 72″ x 79″.

If you’re in need of a quick and easy project, Poppyseed is a great choice! This fat quarter friendly quilt pattern requires 18 fat quarters of your favorite fabric. Simple yet stunning, Poppyseed is a fun project for the beginner or seasoned quilter and is 69″ x 83″ when finished.

Color scheme choices for Poppyseed are endless! I think this quilt would look really awesome in reds, whites, and blues! What color combination would you choose for this quilt? Leave a comment and let me know!

Well folks, I feel like I’ve given you a whole lot to think about with this post. I hope I’ve given you some inspiration with all these great options we have from Corey’s collection.
