Hi All…Did you miss me? It has been what… 2-3 days since my last post? I wish I could post on a regular basis more often…but I’m not Martha Stewart who has a person(s) in charge of her blog…only me…
I want to share something with you…Do you use Instagram or Facebook? FB owns Instagram so when I post to IG it automatically posts to FB..I love this…one stop posting…What I love about IG vs. blogging is thats it so easy to IG…it’s photos and a few words!!! we all love photos!!!! I Instagram almost everyday… so much more than I blog…so come on DO IT!! Use that smart phone of yours and sign up for IG go to the APP store.. its FREE, you will have 2 chances to WIN…I promise to still blog…when we have work to do and lots info to share…like our 12 Days of needful things…and give you more info…like directions here that I cannot do there…But I am there more than here…sorry if I’m confusing you…
Did I mention a give-away… I think this one is an awesome give-away!!! Fabric that now one else will have…well maybe one other beside you and me…so that’s three of us…
Do you have any Snowman Gatherings 1 or 2 fabrics? Or both??? Remember I am moving…you seen the pics of the lakehouse… So I’m slowly going through my fabric collection…
Do you know that when we design MODA fabric we get about 100 different pieces of fabric to pick 40 out of? So there are about 60 fabrics that never make it into the actual line…so what I’ve done is I cut up a bunch of snowman gatherings 2 that were technically never made… See these prints cut up here? I bet they are not in your FQ bundle or other precuts! I cut these rare fabrics into 5″ and 2″ squares that I have added to this snowball quilt! I have two sets of about 60 5″ and 240 2″ squares to give away…I know this isn’t enough to make this quilt, but I want to give it to someone who has purchased these fabric lines and wants to add this to theirs to make this quilt…
So the pattern here is easy…I actually used a layer cake of SG1 and SG2 and then Lakeside Gatherings & Woven (FQ or F8 bundles can also be used)…I cut 2- 5″ squares plus 8-2″ squares from stacked layers…I then proceed to make the light/dark snowball blocks by stitching across the diagonal corners of the 2″ square that were placed RSTon all four corners of the 5″ squares. Remember to stitch dark 2″ on light 5″ and then reverse to stitch light 2″ on dark 5″…Simple…I then make nine patches with the snowball blocks…I pieced 30-9 patch/snowball blocks…6 rows of 5 blocks each…Here is a picture of the rows…67 1/2″x 81″ which will be a nice lap/couch quilt, if not a twin size quilt. 1-10″ square = 2- 4 1/2″ finished snowball blocks or 126-10″ squares …So you need 3 layer cakes place 6 more 10″ squares to make this quilt the same size I did.
It was not my intention for this to be a selling post..but I know some of you will ask…yes, we still have some precuts of these lines…you also can use charm packs and mini charms…252-5″ charms & 1080 2″ squares.(mini charms can be cut down to 2″ & 4 mini charms packs to every charm pack you have) .I don’t know if we have 10 or 50 of anything, so first come first served… I just really wanted to give-away some rare fabric here. I know I give away lots of mini charms in my workshops!!! SG2 LAYERCAKE & LAKESIDE GATHERINGS LC You can also check the CA store. Primitive GatheringsCA I think they even have some SG1 still there, it may be easier to call CA 951-304-9787. I didn’t give the stores a heads up here…so I hope I don’t start mass chaos!
One set I will give away on Instagram/Facebook.. The other here…
So tell me WHY I should send these to you! Remember to make it good…these fabrics are extremely rare and only you and I and one other person in the world will own them!!!
I love this time between Christmas and New Years…I don’t get to cook often and when I do I love to try something different each time…I tried this Mexican casserole yesterday…I made a few changes as for some reason I know what will taste better…so here’s the new recipe…
Mexican Chicken Bake
2 cups of cooked brown rice- (measure 1 cup uncooked rice to make 2 cooked rice)
1 rotisserie chicken or about lb of cooked chicken breast cut up
2- 14.5oz cans of fire roasted diced tomatoes
14.5oz can of black beans-drained
1 red and 1 green pepper, diced up
1 cup of frozen corn
1 Tablespoon Cumin
1 Tablespoon Chili powder
4 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
2 cups of shredded cheese
sour cream-I like to use plain greek yogurt too.
taco sauce/hot sauce for garnish and extra flavor
Spread cooked rice on bottom of greased/sprayed 9×13 pan.
Shuck chicken meat off of the rotisserie chicken.
In a large mixing bowl, combine all ingredients except cheese. Spread over rice.
Cover with tinfoil and bake at 375 degrees for 45 min.
Spread cheese on top and bake for another 15 min at 300 degrees.
Serve with sour cream/greek yogurt and hot sauce/taco sauce.
